SOAR to Success Workshop (Grades 6-8)
Program Details

SOAR equips students with essential learning, organization and communication skills. It focuses on executive function and strategic learning skills. Students will learn to set and achieve goals, organize papers, digital files, space and time. They will learn how to communicate with teachers and peers.
Is Your Middle Schooler Ready for the Next Level? Give them the tools to succeed in 7th, 8th, and beyond!
The Challenge: Middle school is a major transition. Assignments get harder, teachers expect more independence, and "I forgot my book" or "I didn't know we had a test" starts happening more often.
In just 6 weeks, your student will learn:
- Select: How to identify the most important information in any lesson.
- Organize: Simple systems to manage folders, planners, and digital files.
- Associate: Memory tricks to turn "studying" into "knowing".
- Regulate: Goal setting and time management to stop the 10:00 p.m. homework panic.
- Registration is first come, first serve.
- Each workshop session needs a minimum of 8 students in order to run. Each workshop session maxes out at 12 students per class.
- Registration Deadlines:
- SOAR Session 1 (6th Grade) is Monday, February 16, 2026
- SOAR Session 1 (7th-8th Grade) is Monday, February 9, 2026

Parent FAQ
Parent FAQ: Quick Answers
Q: My child already gets good grades. Is this for them?
A: Absolutely. Many "natural" students hit a wall in high school or college because they never had to develop a formal system. SOAR ensures that when the work gets harder, they have the infrastructure to handle it without burning out.
Q: How is this different from a tutor?
A: A tutor helps a student get through a specific assignment (like a math worksheet). SOAR teaches the student how to manage all their assignments independently so they eventually won't need a tutor at all.
Q: What is the "time commitment" for the student?
A: We meet once a week for an hour and a half. The strategies we teach are designed to be integrated into their current homework, so it actually saves them time rather than adding more work to their plate.
Q: Does this help with digital organization?
A: Yes! We cover everything from physical binders to managing messy Google Drives and cluttered email inboxes.
