Participants will be given the opportunity to learn how aircraft work, basic airport operations, and learning to fly an aircraft on a flight simulator. This course will not allow individuals to earn a pilot's license, but can be a starting point for anyone looking to learn how to fly or spend time on flight simulators. This course will focus on the Cessna Skyhawks using X-Plane 12 on a PC, using Honeycomb Yoke, Honeycomb Throttle, and Logitec Rudder Pedals.

This program is open to ALL Roxbury AND non-Roxbury residents.

INSTRUCTOR: Mike Gottfried teaches Geophysical Science, Physics, and Aviation at Roxbury High School. Mr. Gottfried has his Private Pilot's License, in addition to holding an Advanced Ground Instructor (AGI) certificate through the FAA. He holds his Part 107 drone pilot's license, along with being AUVSI TOP Level 1 certified. Mr. Gottfried teaches Intro to Aviation, Pilot Pathway 1, and Pilot Pathway 2, which are courses at RHS designed to help students learn the ground portion of their Private Pilot's License.

The Roxbury Community School is self-sufficient and a course/program must pay for itself. If there are not enough registrants, the course/program will be canceled. The Coordinator reserves the right to remove from class those individuals who have not paid tuition.

There are no refunds for courses/camps AFTER the program starts. All cancellations must be received in writing to comschool@roxbury.org at least seven days prior to the start of the class for a refund. After that date, there will be no refunds.
